How to get great hair color

The Answer: Go right now to My Bella Color Studio in Burbank! At My Bella Color Studio you'll never leave with dull hair.

Most people who know me would say that it is normal routine for me to color my hair. Over the last six years, Sharon Sovinski- owner of My Bella Color Studio, created so many different hair colors and hair cuts that I've lost track! I've been every shade of brown, blonde, red and all at once. People say I have some special or lucky skin tone that can adapt to new hair color, but I really think Sharon Sovinski is responsible.

Sharon can weave like no one else. She can take 3 colors to put into your hair, and when she is done and you have 150 foils on your head, you won't believe the transformation.

I decided enough was enough! I was going to quit my look of boring brown locks and go for something fun! Actually, the only direction I gave Sharon is this: dimensional, bold, and new for 2009. I also went to My Bella Color Studio for a new cut. Because I am trying, once again, to grow my hair long, I wanted a minimal cut. I asked Sharon for a "slight A-line" along the bottom.

Check out these pictures of the step-by-step process. I post these with no shame, foils and all.

You can see that Sharon delivers whatever is asked of her. My hair is dimensional, modern, and bold.

The last picture is me with Sharon Sovinski "Master Hair Colorist" and owner of My Bella Color Studio in Burbank.

Contact the Studio if you can. Sharon is a busy lady, and you may have to wait to see her. Luckliy, she's trained several professional hair colorists to follow her unique design.
LA ladies-- welcome to great hair color!

Game Night in North Hollywood

T'was a nite in January when some NoHo dwellers ate some cheese and salomi, drank wine, and played Cranium. The hosts? he two silly girls in the photo above: my roommate, Jinnie Rosales and Yours Truly.
Before the others arrived, Jinnie and Michelle enjoy some snacks and Trader Joe's red wine. And I, still excited about my new Canon PowerShot SD 790, take the opportunity to test the camera's effects. The yellow-green tint is made by using the "color accent" mode. In the next photo, Jinnie is trying to guess the answer to what her boyfriend, Mark, is reading. It was a Factoid card. Michelle and Jade, on the opposing team, are checking the question.
Finally, at 1am, the game wasn't over and we called it a night.

L.A. Event Professionals Party!

Tonight was girl's night!
Women of L.A.'s top event professions meet monthly for what we call, "Lush Club." I won't say who came up with the name but we all do our duty at these gatherings. Our 1st Club meeting for 2009 was held at the new, romantic and chic designed, Pop Champagne & Dessert Bar in Pasadena, CA. The new establishment , I was told, opened in December 2008 with locals and downtowners all curious about this brick-walled, chandelier-lit bar.
We, and I admittedly include myself, indulged in fresh white peach Bellinis, Belgium brews on draft, butternut soup, goat cheese crustini, cheese plates, prosciutto & fixings, basic ice cream with a lemon tart, chocolate truffles, strawberries soaked and baked in lavender. MMMM, good!
The women here are photographers, event planners, and invitation designers who cater to the best of Los Angeles. Our superb location was chosen by Marcia Vidal of Crystal Clear Weddings.
She's the little lady in pink in the photo above. We all have a great time meeting new women in our industry, discussing the trend in weddings for 2009, and of course sharing stories of our worst BrideZillas. What I love about it is a chance to get to know women I may work with 4 or 5 times a year but only speak to for 10min at a time. It's proven that when business relationships are solidified by real friendships then both businesses prosper because of the gained trust and familiarity. I'll toast to that!

I Googled "Mariah Nicole"

So I Googled myself today and found some interesting stuff!
1. I am not the only "Mariah Nicole" out in the world. It seems to be a pretty popular name! Which is strange to discover when most of my life I was the only "Mariah," not to mention with a "Nicole!"
2. All the profiles I have online appeared; you know, Facebook, MySpace, ModelMayhem, etc. But I also found some wedding sites that had my information, like friends I didn't know I had! One new friend is called CaliforniaBrideandGroom.com. It's another free wedding resource for couples lost in the sea of wedding vendors in their city. Find your perfect vendor by reading reviews by previous clients. I'm proud to anouce the partnership:

If you visit the site, let me know what you think and doing some reviewing! But remember to be nice :)

Mariah Nicole: Elegant Bridal Hair

I met Anna on December 7th at The Luxe Life Event in Century City. (It was hosted by my great friend, and event planner diva, Nicole Hirsty of Cobalt Events. It pays to know Nicole-- she was kind enough to get me a free ticket but that joy was overshadowed by the $25 parking fee I got for trying to avoid the valet, which I later found out was free-- she hosts the most exciting spa events in town!)
I was wondering the aisles when I came upon the most beautiful, hand-crafted hair pins. Their maker was Annna Cho. I pulled this quote below from her website:

Anna Selena Cho, artist and entrepreneur, launched her company Anna Selena® in 2005 with a fixed ambition to set a new spark in the bridge jewelry market. Her experience as head designer for a jewelry manufacturer for large chain stores including H&M and Forever 21 enabled her to create a brand where price, quality, and design go hand in hand for the end consumer. Anna integrates her years of studio arts, manufacturing and sourcing expertise, and her dreamy, soulful spirit into the creation of Anna Selena®.

I love these pieces above! I told Anna I want all my future bridal hair clients to see her work and buy her pieces. We are going to see if a deal can be made for "Mariah Nicole..." clients!

Sunrise to Sunset: A Cowboy Music Video

Welcome to Joshua Tree! This was probably one of the longest days of my life. Colin and I were up 2hrs before sunrise and on the road for 3hr or so. Our destination? the picturesque landscapes of the high desert. Our mission? to capture the spirit and feel of a lonely Cowboy just trying to make it to the next show and meet that girl! Well, something like that.

I took this shot of the crew (camera man, director, and talent manager) huddled in the corner of the bathroom. They are watching the Cowboy's future love-interest getting ready for her job at the local saloon.
Do you see that sunset? The last shots of the day were spent on interviewing our talented Cowboy on his music and goals. You should see the way the interview looks with all those vibrant colors behind him!
Last, when the bags are loaded, the equipment put down, the sky falls dark. All you can see is this abandoned Lover's Bench, barely lit by a lone light from the tree. It had a very ghostly appearance.
