Urban Gem launches! Natural, Funky, Urban Makeup

To play up the model's blue eyes, I used a bright coral eye shadow by MAC

I've been working with some LA based jewelry lines lately, and Urban Gem is one I think is the best for everyday. We did this shoot in many LA Downtown locations, a few which were not so safe but they made for great moods!
Meaghan Rose, the founder of Urban Gem, searches out for the best pieces and material she think hip, urban women will love. No matter your style, you are sure to find something that fits your unique fashion identity. I think she did a great job!

Thanks to Callaway Gable for sending me these pictures! Brian & Allie are so fun to work with, whether it's a wedding, boudoir or fashion shoot. I highly recommend them.

This model got her golden glow with MAC's Matte Bronzer
She's all color! Jane Iredale Light Bronzer & a MAC blue eyeshadow give her a summery, ethnic look

LA Bride @ JW Marriott

It started a year ago or so, when former classmates began contacting me for their wedding makeup and hair. It never occurred to me when I got into this business that so many people from my past would resurface, and instead of trading notes, I'd be a part of their most precious memory: the wedding day.

This is a picture I took after our trial at The Bridal Bar
I was so happy that Valerie and I reconnected for her May wedding. She'd heard from another classmate and her photographer, Ryan Phillips, that I was in the beauty industry, specifically weddings.
We had a lot of fun at her trial, sharing stories from the past, updating each other on our lives. I gained a new client and a friend!

Valerie's plan was to get ready at LA's newest modern hotel, the JW Marriott at LA Live, and her ceremony took place at Marvimon House, a great local for smaller weddings.
She has beautiful hair, so we decided to showcase it by leaving it down in loose curls, with just the sides back. To fit her colorful personality, we played up her brown eyes with hues in pink, purple, and black.
Check out these eye shadows from MAC Cosmetics.

These wedding pictures are from Ryan's blog , and show the high energy and copious amounts of love between Valerie and Lidan. Coordination and Flowers were done beautifully by Kelly Leonard.

My favorite picture of her- What a smile!

Bridal Beauty @ Disney Concert Hall

check out these Jimmy's!!

I had the pleasure of meeting my bride, Maria, on Wednesday Aug 31st for her makeup trial...and on the following Saturday we did her wedding makeup!

Maria is a beautiful woman and knew exactly what colors complemented her fair skin and blonde hair, so we wasted no time discussing all her options. She had a beautiful palette of metallics, bronze, and copper. I used NARS eye shadows, Makeup Forever HD Foundation, and Jane Iredale powder to set.
I've never had a bride so keen on what she wanted and easy to work with!

We got ready at the Standard Hotel in dtLA, close to her Disney Concert Hall ceremony site. She had a fabulous hair team doing perfect up-dos while I took care of the makeup!

Working with Ryan Phillips photgraphy is wonderful because I know I'm going to get great pictures to share! Here are a few shots I pulled from his recent blog post.

I love the joy & excitement captured here!
